Our Story
4 Ten was originally founded as a web design, video and technical repair firm in 2006. Founded by two students who understood the plight that local small businesses faced in spending their advertising dollars wisely. The two founders (Dan and Sean) grew the business through local networking groups and gained the attention of various local business who recruited 4 Ten to develop and publish their websites. Through the experience of developing websites for individuals with limited technical knowledge came the realization that there was no truly user friendly website content updater. Thus the idea for Annex was born.
On April 10th (4/10) 2007, 4 Ten Technologies was officially formed. Soon there after 4 Ten acquired an office in Severna Park through a barter for technical services. That September 4 Ten hired its first employee and began development on the Annex project. This was around the same time 4 Ten began talks with the ETC to join the ranks at their Canton facility (but more about that later). After many long days and longer nights the Annex alpha version was ready. The alpha version was built to show the real potential of having an updater within the browser and the ease-of-use features that we had developed. After showing the alpha version to a few insiders we could see the real potential that Annex had, not only as a product but as a way of creating independence for so many people. After seeing the reactions of everyone we demoed to production ramped up and so did the speed of development. Having moved out of our Severna Park office we are now in, you guessed it, Canton Baltimore within the Emerging Technology Center and we could not be happier. In September of 2008 we hired more talented staff to continue the development of Annex and take it to the next level. We are excited about the prospect of building partnerships with web development firms and businesses and showing them how easy updating a website can be. Everyday brings with it a new innovation or development to Annex. We are all excited and counting down the days to the release. |
